I just received a newsletter from The Guild of Creative Art, located in Monmouth County, NJ. I’ve been a member for about 6 months, and I recently taught a full day workshop there. They recommended a new website called www.artperk.com. The best way to learn more is, of course, to visit the site. It looks very impressive. There are not many listings as of today, but I assume it will grow quickly.
I always caution people to read the entry rules carefully before entering any competition, and I’d also recommend that you ask others their opinion of juried shows on forums like the Digital-FineArt Yahoo! Group (I’m a moderator of that group), or the Artshow-Photo Group. Pay special attention to any clauses that discuss the licensing rights and/or copyrights that you may be giving up to the company or organization that is sponsoring a contest (sometimes whether or not you are a winner).
To learn more, visit www.artperk.com.
I just noticed that Calumet Photo has a very impressive “Photo of the Week” page, with many stunning images from their customers. This week’s photo is an absolutely stunning flower image by Don A. Gagnon, entitled, Lily Red.
You can view the images and find out more on Calumet’s Photo of the Week page.
The Center for Fine Art Photography’s “All Things Horses” Show call for entries deadline is today (6/18/2008). The show’s Juror is photographer Christiane Slawik.
In addition to being invited to have work exhibited at The Center’s new and expanded location from 9/5-9/27/2008, a list of other awards for winning entries can be found on the show’s call for entry page. Images related to riding, working and enjoying horses; photos of tack, riders, rider’s attire, people on horseback – or in the process of getting unseated, dressage, and of course horses in any pose or situation are sought for this exhibition.
As I’ve mentioned in the past, I am a member of The Center For Fine Art Photography’s Ambassador’s Circle, which is a group of volunteers who help to share information about events and calls for entry.
Entries are due by 11:59PM Mountain Standard Time (MST) on Wednesday 6/18/2008, and are accepted via The Center’s website. For more info, here is a direct link to the Street Photography show’s call for entry page.
