Tamron’s ‘It’s a Wild World’ Contest Gallery & Tamron’s Pro Learning Center

Tamron USA, Inc. recently announced the winners of their “It’s a Wild World” photo contest. The Grand Prize winning image, “The Curious Turtle” was shot by John Beveridge of Austin, Texas: “Getting this ant’s-eye view of the turtle wasn’t easy,” notes Beveridge. “I’m sure I must have looked slightly ridiculous wiggling around in a patch of dirt on the side of the highway as I followed this cute critter with my Canon EOS 20D fitted with a Tamron SP 28-75mm f/2.8 Di lens. Finally I got the composition I wanted when the turtle craned his neck and peered at me, and I shot the winning picture at about 70mm at f/5.6 at 1/200 sec.”

Mr. Beveridge received a Tamron AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II Aspherical (IF) Macro zoom lens and will have his winning picture showcased in Tamron’s Viewfinder newsletter and in the Gallery section Tamron’s website.

I had the opportunity to be a juror for a past show called “People, Places, Things,” and I visited the Center for Fine Art Photography a few months ago. I highly recommend visiting if you are planning to be in the Denver or Ft. Collins area of Colorado.

The show will be juried by Grace Norman, Exhibitions Director for The Center for Fine Art Photography. Grace is an award winning photographer with over seventy national and international exhibitions.

Awards include an exhibition opportunity, recognition in Artists’ ShowCase (the feature section in CameraArts magazine), and cash awards.

For more information, visit the Center for Fine Art Photography’s website.

Hello once again! In this episode of The Imaging Buffet I interview Lauren Wendle, Publisher of Photo District News and PhotoPlus Expo. During the interview, Lauren shares with us some behind-the-scenes information about the three-day PhotoPlus Expo event that’s been running in New York City for the last 21 years. She also gives us a taste of what’s to come at next year’s Expo, including the dates of the 2007 show.

Mentioned in the intro to the show was the Trucker Tom podcast. I was recently interviewed by Tom for his podcast and here’s the link to his website.

Enjoy, and stay tuned for more interviews soon.

All the best,
Andrew D.
