I’m Exhibiting at the Super Pet Expo 2/8-2/10, 2008

Many people who know me know that I’ve done a lot of animal and pet photography over the years. I’ve licensed images to companies for posters and editorial use, and I created a line of greeting cards which include some dogs. I’ve also photographed hundreds of dogs and cats for private sittings with and without their “people friends.” For some examples, visit candidcanine.com. From Friday to Sunday 2/8-2/10 I’ll be exhibiting at the Super Pet Expo in Edison, NJ (Booth number 337). I’ll be answering questions about digital photography and printing, setting up consulting sessions for people who want to learn more, and I’ll have cards, posters, matted photographs and some mini-pet photo books of my work available for sale. Elwood, the world’s ugliest dog (though I think he looks quite charming!) will also be there. Leashed pets are also welcome, which makes it quite an amazing event. Hope to see you there!

Center for Fine Art Photography Show Galleries Posted

I recently had the honor of being the juror for the show: Trains, Planes and Automobiles at the Center for Fine Art Photography.
c4fap.jpgThe image galleries have been posted, and I’m pleased to be able to share the links with you.

Below are links to two galleries, as well as to my Juror Statement. I think that the images really express the theme nicely and I thank everyone who submitted work. It was a great experience looking at so much fantastic imagery.

Luminous Landscape Endowment Fund Offers Great Opportunity-Application Period Ends 2/11/2008

I’ve been visiting Luminous-Landscape.com for news, reviews, training and information for about the last 10 years. It’s a fantastic resource, and I think that the site’s publisher, Michael Reichmann, and those who have contributed to the site have helped many photographers in many ways. And their images have undoubtedly inspired many to pick up a camera and capture the world around them.

The Luminous Landscape Inc., in August 2007, created an Endowment Fund to allow photographers to pursue special projects or educational opportunities. A total of $20,000 has been raised, and awards from $1,000-$5,000 will be given to photographers based on an application process which can be found on the Endowment Fund’s information page.

The judging panel for the Endowment Fund is a very distinguished group of photographers and educators: Stephen Johnson, Charles Cramer, Seth Resnick, Ian Lyons, Alain Briot, Nick Rains, John Paul Caponigro, Michael Johnston and Michael Reichmann.

I think that this is a great opportunity for anyone who has a project in their heart, but has not been able to make it a reality. My guess is that even some of those whose funding requests are not met will benefit from the process, leading to the creation of work that may not have been undertaken otherwise.

The Luminous Landscape Endowment Fund Application Period Ends 2/11/2008. For more information about the Endowment Fund, visit this page.
