Photo & Printing Workshops, plus Photoshop Tips from David Saffir

I’ve known David Saffir for years, and I recently received his newsletter with information about his Advanced Photography and Printing Workshops coming up in the Central Coast (Morro Bay and points north), California, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Zion, Utah.

Click here to see details for all the workshops. The images I’ve seen from some of the locations, photographed by David, are stunning. He has also created a new productivity tool for Photoshop, and other free Photoshop tutorials can be accessed on his website here.

David Saffir is also the author of Mastering Digital Color: A Photographer’s and Artist’s Guide to Controlling Color. I think it’s an extremely well-written and easy to understand book all about color management and workflow. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to better understand color management and image reproduction from capture to print.

Photoshop CS3 Power Tour in New York City-11/6/2007

Scott Kelby will be returning to New York City on Tuesday 11/6/2007 for the Photoshop CS3 Power Tour. I’ve attended many of Scott’s sessions, and I’ve always learned valuable tips and tricks. He is a fantastic presenter, and based on the schedule of topics, it looks to be a great day of Photoshop learning. The event will run a full day (10am-5pm), and is being held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Photo Tips Worth a Look from Derrick Story

As you can tell from my last post about Adorama’s 100 photo tips in 100 days, I love reading tips from other photographers. Some of the best tips I’ve highlighted in the past have been from Derrick Story, and I just came across this great compilation of tips that Derrick has shared with his audience on his excellent blog and podcast, The Digital Story. The tips range from how to protect your camera in the rain with an inexpensive accessory, to how to use iPhoto, Aperture or Photoshop CS3 more effectively. Most are Derrick’s tips, but some are tips that Derrick credits to other photographers and/or magazines. You can find the 50 specific tips on this page. Most importantly, I think the tips just might entice you to grab the nearest camera and do some phototography. Enjoy!
