Innovative “Movie-in-a-Book” Kickstarter Project

I recently received an e-mail from Safangelo Sadeghpour who recently launched a Kickstarter project with a very interesting goal. The project’s main focus is creating a publishing system that combines the tactile feel and power of a printed color book (illustrated with high quality photography) with an audio track that is played through a website URL or via a phone number. It may not be a completely new idea (many children’s books have for years come with audio tapes, CD’s etc.), but with the advent of smartphones, I think it is a new and interesting approach, and I hope he achieves his goal of raising $6,000.

You can find the Kickstarter project here.

…and below you can see a sample of how the final book and audio will look and sound:

Recent Article on How to Get the Most from a Visit to the PDN PhotoPlus Expo

I just posted a pretty long article on Pixiq.com entitled: 10 Tips for Navigating the PhotoPlus Expo in New York City.

If you are at the show today, or if you are planning to attend this week or in upcoming years, I hope you find it useful. You can find the article here.

Von Iva at the Red Devil Lounge Sat. 10/6

Last Friday night I attended the Culture Catch Salon at the Podcast and New Media Expo. I also did some photos of the event for the people who organized it. It was a great evening, and the closing act was a three woman band called Von Iva from San Francisco, who absolutely rocked the house.

They are playing on Oct 6 at Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco. I’ve been listening to their CD since the show and you can check them out on their MySpace page (The song LALA is really amazing, and hearing it live is something I will not soon forget). Their song called DO IT! sounds like an instant hit to me. It’s the 10th song on the CD Our Own Island. You can find it and sample a portion on iTunes.
