FIRST DAY WITH NANCY ORI (Jan. 25, 2009)

Meet for an open exchange of ideas directed by an experienced photographer, juror and exhibitor. Ori will assist students to find common threads within a variety of images; select at least one cohesive body of images; give you an awareness of style; and suggest additional shooting and suggest future projects. Students will have an opportunity to show and discuss their work–both finished pieces and works in progress. Participants should bring at least 20 printed photographs that represent at least one body of work.

This session includes general as well as specific tips on how to develop a strong portfolio and make a presentation with reference to the different audiences that you might be interested in.

Topics to be covered include:
• What should your portfolio look like;
• What materials do you need and where do you get them;
• How to find an appropriate gallery; and
• How do you prepare for the exhibition.

Specific tried and true tips will be shared. This workshp will include critiques of each participant’s portfolio, as well as recommendations for which images should be printed during the printing session with Andrew Darlow.
