Last month I conducted two color management/fine-art printing workshops at Xact Studios. a new pro rental/fine-art reproduction studio located in Hillsborough, NJ (near Princeton). They went extremely well, so I decided to offer three more color management/fine-art printing workshops on February 21, 2009 at the same location. These are all three-hour semi-private workshops.

For more information or to register, visit this page on Eventbrite.com.
I also recently offered subscribers to my Inkjet and Imaging Tips Newsletter a special discount for the workshops. If you’d like to receive the same discount, feel free to sign up for the free newsletter. The link for the discount will be in your welcome e-mail after you confirm your subscription. You’ll also receive links to a resolution chart in PDF form and information about how to determine file sizes for printing. To subscribe, you can fill out the form to the right, or you can just send a blank e-mail here: inkjettips01@aweber.com.
I just received this announcement about Lightroom 2.2 being released. One of the best features I noticed is that Adobe Camera Profiles are now provided in the application, eliminating the need to install them manually. Below are excerpts from the announcement:
Adobe has released an update to its Photoshop Lightroom software, available immediately as a free upgrade for existing Lightroom 2 users. Lightroom 2.2 adds raw support for seven new camera models including the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Canon PowerShot G10. The update also includes several refinements such as enhanced performance of the local adjustment tools.
In addition, Adobe’s Camera Profiles are now available natively within Lightroom 2.2 and are provided automatically as part of this release. As the visual starting point for the raw processing workflow, camera profiles provide flexibility that allows photographers to quickly achieve their desired rendering.
Lightroom 2.2 supports the following additional camera models: Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon PowerShot G10, Panasonic DMC-G1, Panasonic DMC-FX150, Panasonic DMC-FZ28, Panasonic DMC-LX3 and Leica D-LUX 4.
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.2 is available now as a free download for
existing Lightroom 2 customers here.

software on Adobe’s website, visit https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshoplightroom/.

I just received my weekly TidBITS e-mail in my in-box with this announcement. TidBITS is a great newsletter published by TidBITS Publishing Inc. I’ve purchased a few of the Take Control e-books over the years and I’ve listened to many of the authors discuss their e-books on one of my favorite Podcasts: MacVoices with Chuck Joiner.
The company is having a 50% off sale until end of day on 10/14/2008, which is a great value since many of the books are in the $10-15 range to begin with. There are currently 58 Take Control e-books on a wide range of Mac-related subjects, and according to the post by Adam Engst that describes their 5th Anniversary sale, some of the most popular titles to date have been Joe Kissell’s “Take Control of Mac OS X Backups,” and Glenn Fleishman’s books on AirPort networking. I’ve read Adam Engst’s and Glenn Fleishman’s Wireless Networking Starter Kit and consider it an incredibly well-written and researched book (it is a printed book).
Of course, technology changes fast, so publishing books as e-books has helped TidBITS make many titles possible that may not have been possible had they been published in printed form. Plus, the Take Control authors will often update their books and make the updated PDFs available at no charge, which is a great bonus for those who buy the e-books.
You can find out more about the 50% off sale Take Control e-books on the TidBITS site here. The direct link with the coupon code can be found on that page about four lines into the article.
